Padma had expressed her consent to return to her home country in Africa, along with her toddler, to the Immigration Department in Hong Kong in November 2023. She reached out to ROAD a month later, seeking assistance. During the intake assessment, conducted as part of our process when community members express a desire to return, we identified several key issues that Padma was facing. She was ambivalent about returning, whether she had made the right decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, she had no family in her home country, as her parents were deceased, and she did not know whom to contact or seek support from upon her return. She considered reaching out to her only relative, who resided in a neighbouring country. At that point, Padma was uncertain about her departure date from Hong Kong, as she had not been given one by the Immigration Department. Combined with the helplessness in being kept in limbo, the weight of the decisions she had to make regarding her and her daughter’s safety and well-being overwhelmed her. She was experiencing low mood, lack of energy, difficulty concentrating, and poor sleep. Additionally, her toddler was displaying signs of developmental delay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ROAD conducted additional sessions with Padma to prepare her for her return, assessing her readiness, identifying her needs, addressing logistical considerations, and assisting with document preparation. Although Padma initially hesitated to reach out to friends in Africa about her return, the sessions helped her evaluate the potential benefits and drawbacks, and she ultimately reached out to a friend who was delighted to receive her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also contacted her relative, who extended an invitation for her to visit once she obtained the necessary documentation, including a passport for her daughter, as he lived in a neighbouring country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ROAD also referred Padma to counselling services to address her emotional well-being and equipped her with tools for parenting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proactively, Padma also reached out to another organisation that connected her with a local organisation in her home country, which offered six months of shelter and food assistance for Padma and her child. Despite the challenges, Padma pursued online courses so that it would enable her to take up some employment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eventually, just two days before her flight, Padma was informed of her departure by the Immigration Department. Despite the limited time ROAD managed to provide the financial support that we provide to returning community members. Padma also managed to complete the necessary requirements and returned home with a mixture of ambiguity and hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ROAD also facilitated a connection with an organisation offering free counselling services, ensuring that she could continue to receive emotional and psychological support. Padma and her daughter eventually left their home country and joined her only relative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Padma’s story serves as an exemplar of how ROAD envisions supporting community members in their return journey. We continuously learn from these experiences to improve and make the transition home, safer and more dignified for individuals like Padma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2023\u5e7411\u6708\uff0cPadma\u5411\u9999\u6e2f\u5165\u5883\u4e8b\u52d9\u8655\u8868\u793a\uff0c\u540c\u610f\u8207\u5e74\u5e7c\u7684\u5b69\u5b50\u4e00\u8d77\u8fd4\u56de\u975e\u6d32\u539f\u5c45\u5730\u751f\u6d3b\uff1b\u4e00\u500b\u6708\u5f8c\uff0c\u5979\u5411ROAD\u5718\u968a\u6c42\u52a9\u3002\u4e00\u5982\u5176\u4ed6\u8868\u793a\u6709\u610f\u8fd4\u56de\u539f\u5c45\u5730\u7684\u793e\u5340\u6210\u54e1\uff0c\u6211\u5011\u8207Padma\u9032\u884c\u8a55\u4f30\uff0c\u4e86\u89e3\u5979\u9762\u5c0d\u7684\u4e3b\u8981\u554f\u984c\u3002\u7d50\u679c\u986f\u793a\u5979\u5c0d\u56de\u570b\u611f\u5230\u77db\u76fe\u5fd0\u5fd1\uff0c\u5c0d\u65bc\u81ea\u5df1\u7684\u6c7a\u5b9a\u6b63\u78ba\u8207\u5426\u5fc3\u751f\u7591\u616e\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u7531\u65bcPadma\u7684\u96d9\u89aa\u5df2\u7d93\u96e2\u4e16\uff0c\u5979\u5728\u539f\u5c45\u5730\u8209\u76ee\u7121\u89aa\uff0c\u56de\u570b\u5f8c\u53ef\u8b02\u6c42\u52a9\u7121\u9580\u3002\u82e6\u7121\u5c0d\u7b56\u4e4b\u4e0b\uff0c\u806f\u7d61\u5c45\u65bc\u9130\u570b\u7684\u552f\u4e00\u89aa\u5c6c\u5f77\u5f7f\u6210\u70ba\u4e86\u5979\u7684\u552f\u4e00\u51fa\u8def\u3002\u8207\u6b64\u540c\u6642\uff0cPadma\u5c0d\u81ea\u5df1\u4f55\u6642\u96e2\u6e2f\u6beb\u7121\u982d\u7dd2\uff0c\u5165\u5883\u4e8b\u52d9\u8655\u7576\u6642\u4e00\u76f4\u4e26\u6c92\u5411\u5979\u900f\u9732\u78ba\u5be6\u65e5\u671f\u3002\u8eab\u4e0d\u7531\u5df1\u7684\u8655\u5883\u8b93Padma\u611f\u5230\u5fac\u5fa8\u7121\u52a9\uff0c\u800c\u5979\u660e\u767d\uff0c\u6bcf\u9805\u6c7a\u5b9a\u90fd\u5c0d\u81ea\u5df1\u548c\u5973\u5152\u7684\u5b89\u5168\u548c\u65e5\u5f8c\u751f\u6d3b\u5f71\u97ff\u6df1\u9060\u3002\u6c89\u91cd\u7684\u58d3\u529b\u4ee4\u5979\u51fa\u73fe\u60c5\u7dd2\u4f4e\u843d\u3001\u5026\u6020\u3001\u5c08\u6ce8\u529b\u4e0b\u964d\u548c\u5931\u7720\u75c7\u72c0\uff1b\u53e6\u4e00\u908a\u5ec2\uff0c\u5979\u7684\u5b69\u5b50\u4ea6\u51fa\u73fe\u767c\u5c55\u9072\u7de9\u7684\u8de1\u8c61\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u70ba\u5354\u52a9Padma\u6e96\u5099\u56de\u570b\uff0cROAD\u5718\u968a\u8207\u5979\u9032\u884c\u591a\u6b21\u6703\u9762\uff0c\u85c9\u6b64\u8a55\u4f30\u5979\u5c0d\u65bc\u8fd4\u570b\u7684\u5c31\u7dd2\u7a0b\u5ea6\u3001\u4e86\u89e3\u5979\u7684\u9700\u8981\u3001\u8655\u7406\u5f8c\u52e4\u554f\u984c\u548c\u9810\u5099\u6240\u9808\u6587\u4ef6\u3002\u6700\u521d\uff0cPadma\u5c0d\u65bc\u806f\u7d61\u975e\u6d32\u7576\u5730\u7684\u670b\u53cb\u6709\u6240\u537b\u6b65\uff0c\u4f46\u7d93\u904e\u591a\u6b21\u6703\u9762\uff0c\u5979\u5728\u5718\u968a\u6210\u54e1\u5354\u52a9\u4e0b\u5b78\u6703\u5e73\u8861\u7576\u4e2d\u5229\u5f0a\u3002Padma\u6700\u7d42\u8207\u4e00\u4f4d\u670b\u53cb\u53d6\u5f97\u806f\u7d61\uff0c\u4e26\u4e14\u7372\u5f97\u670b\u53cb\u7684\u71b1\u60c5\u56de\u61c9\uff0c\u8868\u793a\u5c07\u6703\u8fce\u63a5\u5979\u7684\u6b78\u4f86\uff1b\u5979\u4ea6\u8207\u8eab\u5728\u5bb6\u9109\u9130\u570b\u7684\u89aa\u4eba\u806f\u7d61\u4e0a\uff0c\u4ed6\u9080\u8acbPadma\u5230\u5bb6\u4f5c\u5ba2\uff0c\u53ea\u8981\u5979\u548c\u5973\u5152\u7684\u6240\u9808\u8b49\u4ef6\u4ff1\u5099\uff0c\u4fbf\u53ef\u6210\u884c\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u9664\u6b64\u4e4b\u5916\uff0cROAD\u5718\u968a\u5411Padma\u8f49\u4ecb\u8f14\u5c0e\u670d\u52d9\uff0c\u5354\u52a9\u5979\u6574\u7406\u60c5\u7dd2\u53ca\u63d0\u4f9b\u80b2\u5152\u8cc7\u6e90\u3002Padma\u4ea6\u4e3b\u52d5\u5411\u53e6\u4e00\u9593\u6a5f\u69cb\u6c42\u52a9\uff0c\u7531\u8a72\u6a5f\u69cb\u8207\u5bb6\u9109\u7684\u5730\u5340\u670d\u52d9\u7d44\u7e54\u727d\u7dda\uff0c\u70ba\u5979\u548c\u5b69\u5b50\u5b89\u6392\u516d\u500b\u6708\u7684\u4f4f\u5bbf\u548c\u98df\u7269\u63f4\u52a9\u3002\u6b64\u5916\uff0cPadma\u66f4\u7121\u61fc\u91cd\u91cd\u6311\u6230\uff0c\u4fee\u8b80\u7db2\u4e0a\u8ab2\u7a0b\uff0c\u85c9\u6b64\u63d0\u5347\u6280\u80fd\uff0c\u70ba\u56de\u570b\u5f8c\u6295\u5165\u8077\u5834\u505a\u597d\u6e96\u5099\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Padma\u7d42\u5728\u822a\u73ed\u51fa\u767c\u5169\u65e5\u524d\u7372\u5165\u5883\u4e8b\u52d9\u8655\u901a\u77e5\u96e2\u6e2f\u65e5\u671f\u3002\u5118\u7ba1\u6642\u9593\u7dca\u8feb\uff0cROAD\u5718\u968a\u4ecd\u8d95\u53ca\u5728Padma\u96e2\u6e2f\u524d\uff0c\u5411\u5979\u767c\u653e\u6211\u5011\u7d66\u4e88\u81ea\u9858\u9063\u8fd4\u6210\u54e1\u7684\u7d93\u6fdf\u63f4\u52a9\u3002\u6210\u529f\u5b8c\u6210\u65e2\u5b9a\u6d41\u7a0b\u5f8c\uff0cPadma\u5728\u4e00\u7247\u56f0\u60d1\u548c\u5e0c\u671b\u4e4b\u4e2d\u6b65\u4e0a\u6b78\u9014<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ROAD\u5718\u968a\u4ea6\u70baPadma\u8207\u7576\u5730\u7684\u8f14\u5c0e\u7d44\u7e54\u727d\u7dda\uff0c\u8b93\u5979\u5f97\u4ee5\u7e7c\u7e8c\u63a5\u53d7\u514d\u8cbb\u60c5\u7dd2\u548c\u5fc3\u7406\u652f\u63f4\u3002\u6700\u5f8c\uff0cPadma\u548c\u5979\u7684\u5973\u5152\u96e2\u958b\u5bb6\u9109\uff0c\u8207\u5979\u5011\u552f\u4e00\u7684\u89aa\u4eba\u4e00\u8d77\u751f\u6d3b\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Padma\u7684\u6545\u4e8b\u5c55\u73feROAD\u5982\u4f55\u5728\u793e\u5340\u6210\u54e1\u7684\u6b78\u5bb6\u4e4b\u8def\u4e0a\u63d0\u4f9b\u652f\u63f4\u3002\u6211\u5011\u4e0d\u65b7\u5f9e\u9019\u4e9b\u7d93\u6b77\u4e2d\u5b78\u7fd2\uff0c\u70ba\u6bcf\u500b\u50cfPadma\u4e00\u6a23\u9078\u64c7\u91cd\u8fd4\u6545\u9109\u7684\u4eba\u7dad\u8b77\u5c0a\u56b4\uff0c\u8b93\u4ed6\u5011\u5f97\u4ee5\u5b89\u7136\u56de\u570b\uff0c\u7e7c\u7e8c\u751f\u6d3b\u3002<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
